The 2-minute rule: the quickest way to beat procrastination and get productive.

Getting productive in 2 minutes? Yeah, right. Believe it or not, it is actually true.

The idea behind the 2-minute rule is that doing something in under 2 minutes is a piece of cake for anyone. Does it just take 2 minutes? Ok, let me get it done. What most of us don’t realize here is that the 2 minutes you take to do something can stop your procrastination. create a habit and get you motivated. So, don’t underestimate 2!

Does it really take 2 minutes?

According to this rule, you find a way to start a task in less than 2 minutes. Start, not do. For example, if you want to bake a cake, just preheat the oven and grab the recipe. This will encourage you to get the job done. At the same time, if you want to start a new habit, it should take less than 2 minutes too. Ex. Say you want to learn swimming, just change into your swimsuit. That easy. The 2-minute rule gets the ball rolling, and all that’s left is to roll with it.

Why a 2-minute rule?

The 2-minute rule is the most basic anti-procrastination technique available out there. Though it seems very elementary, it is very effective. Not only does it kill procrastination, but it also helps in acquiring new habits, as stated before. Sparing 2 minutes is no big deal. Yet, it can trick your brain into activating the productivity mode. Even if it doesn’t, doing something for 2 minutes every day like 10 push-ups can make a massive difference in your life. 

How can 2 minutes make a difference?

Step 1: Pick a task/ habit/ action

Step 2: Start small. You should be able to do it in under 2 minutes.

Step 3: Continue if you feel like it.

Step 4: Else, quit it, and do the same the next day.

It’s just 2 minutes, so I would say it is definitely worth a try. Plus, it is simple and easy. Can’t go wrong with that.
